Emotional Freedom Techniques, EFT or “tapping,” is a stress-reduction technique that combines elements of Cognitive Therapy and Exposure Therapy from modern psychology with the ancient eastern practice of acupressure.
Sometimes called “Acupuncture without the needles” or “Emotional acupuncture,” Tapping involves gently tapping on acupressure points on the face and body while focusing on thoughts, emotions, or sensations and using cognitive statements.
Tapping sends calming signals to the part of the brain that controls stress. It moves you from the sympathetic nervous system (fight/flight/freeze) into the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest.)
It rewires the brain and reduces the impact of memories or incidents that trigger emotional distress.
EFT works hand-in-hand with conventional medicine, and its benefits are many
◓ Moving through Grief and Loss
◐ Overcoming Performance Problems or Phobias
◑ Reducing Stress or Anxiety
◒ Releasing Limiting Beliefs
◐ Clearing Blocks from Childhood Trauma
◓ Career Goals and Releasing Procrastination
One hour of EFT reduces your cortisol, the stress hormone, by 45%. Evidence based and approved by the VA, there are 200+ scientific papers on the effect of EFT.
At Body Positive Works, we create treatments around the individual, listening to your needs and developing sessions that empower and celebrate you. EFT treatments are no exception; your EFT Practitioner will create an individualized treatment based entirely on your needs.
An EFT Session can be used individually or in conjunction with other modalities, such as meditation and breath-work. Each modality supports a reconnection of body, mind, and spirit. This, in turn, encourages a positive change in perspective about your body and your life, empowering you to not only recognize your strengths and purpose but to live fully in the present moment as well.
Used in conjunction with psychotherapy, EFT can help to reduce stress and anxiety and further benefit the therapeutic process.
You will receive instruction on how to take these practices home with you and use them in your everyday life.
Our EFT treatments last 60 minutes.
