Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)
Do You Struggle To Manage Your Emotions Or Thoughts?
Are you looking to reduce stress, release trauma from the body, or rewire your brain to encompass ways of thinking that serve you?
How EFT Helps Manage Emotions and Thoughts
EFT, a self-induced tool that can regulate and calm the nervous system in just 3-5 minutes, involves gently tapping on acupressure points on the face, top of the head and body while using cognitive statements and focusing on thoughts, emotions, or sensations.
A quick way to shift the fight-or-flight response, EFT sessions support a reduction in stress around triggering events, people, or things.
Research also suggests that an hour of EFT lowers cortisol, our stress hormone, by 43%. Additionally, the practice helps us to process highly traumatic events in an incredibly gentle way, as well as integrate trauma so that it no longer runs the show.
Tapping EFT frees us from phobias, negative emotions, rewires the brain, and reduces the impact of memories and incidents that generate emotional distress. Tapping also helps with post traumatic stress disorder (ptsd).
Through the incorporation of cognitive statements, the brain’s natural neuroplasticity is activated, allowing for the rewiring of the brain, the creation of cognitive shifts and new ways of thinking and seeing, and the release of limiting beliefs and blocks.

Learn to live in the present moment!
An experience that combines the best of western traditional therapy (exposure and cognitive) with eastern practice (acupressure or acupuncture without the needles), EFT creates lasting change by learning from both the wisdom of the mind and the body.
At Body Positive Works, we create treatments around the individual, listening to your needs and developing sessions that empower and celebrate you. EFT treatments are no exception; your EFT Practitioner will create an individualized treatment based entirely on your needs.
An EFT Session can be used individually or in conjunction with other modalities, such as our meditation and breathwork.
Each modality supports a reconnection of body, mind, and spirit. This, in turn, encourages a positive change in perspective about your body and your life, empowering you to not only recognize your strengths and purpose but to live fully in the present moment as well.
Used in conjunction with BoPo psychotherapy, EFT can help to reduce stress and anxiety and further benefit the therapeutic process.
You will receive instruction on how to take these practices home with you and use them in your everyday life.
EFT: Stepping into a Calmer, More Empowered You
In the whirlwind of modern life, our emotional well-being often takes a backseat. We’re bombarded with stress, anxiety, and negative self-talk, leaving us feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from our true selves. But what if there was a simple, yet powerful technique that could help us navigate these challenges and embrace a more peaceful existence?
Enter Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), a gentle yet effective method that utilizes tapping on specific acupressure points while simultaneously focusing on distressing emotions and beliefs. This unique blend of mind and bodywork has gained widespread recognition for its ability to release negative emotions, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being.
Tapping Therapy for Body Positivity
The body positivity movement celebrates self-love and acceptance, encouraging individuals to embrace their unique bodies and shed societal pressures. EFT aligns seamlessly with this philosophy, empowering individuals to address negative body image thoughts and emotions that hinder their self-acceptance journey.
By tapping into the underlying emotions associated with body shame, self-criticism, and unrealistic beauty standards, EFT can help individuals rewire their neural pathways and cultivate a more positive and compassionate relationship with their bodies. It’s about recognizing that our worth extends far beyond physical appearance, nurturing self-compassion, and embracing the beauty of diversity.
Tapping (EFT) in Action: Taming the Inner Critic
The inner critic, that incessant voice that whispers doubts and insecurities, can be a formidable foe in the pursuit of body positivity. But with EFT, we can silence this relentless voice and cultivate a more supportive inner dialogue.
Imagine feeling anxious about trying on a new outfit or engaging in physical activities. With EFT, you can tap on acupressure points while focusing on the negative thoughts and emotions associated with these situations. As you tap, repeat affirmations that challenge the inner critic’s narrative, replacing self-doubt with self-belief.
EFT for Empowered Living
EFT is not just about managing negative emotions; it’s about harnessing the power of our minds to create a life we truly desire. By tapping on our limiting beliefs and self-imposed barriers, we can open ourselves up to new possibilities and embrace a more empowered existence.
Whether it’s overcoming social anxiety, achieving fitness goals, or pursuing a career passion, EFT can be a valuable tool for unlocking our potential. By releasing the emotional baggage that holds us back, we can step into a brighter, more fulfilling future.
Embrace EFT’s Gentle Approach
The beauty of EFT lies in its simplicity and accessibility. It doesn’t require lengthy sessions or specialized equipment – just a willingness to engage with your emotions and a few gentle taps. With regular practice, you can cultivate inner peace, enhance your self-esteem, and embrace the fullness of body positivity.
So, take a deep breath, extend your hand towards your body, and embark on a journey of emotional liberation. Through EFT, you can transform your inner landscape, cultivate a more positive self-image, and step into a life filled with confidence, harmony, and self-acceptance.

Emotional Freedom Techniques FAQ
Emotional Freedom Techniques, EFT or “tapping,” is a stress-reduction technique that combines elements of Cognitive Therapy and Exposure Therapy from modern psychology with the ancient eastern practice of acupressure. Sometimes called “Acupuncture without the needles” or “Emotional acupuncture,” Tapping involves gently tapping on acupressure points on the face and body while using cognitive statements and focusing on thoughts, emotions, or sensations.
Tapping sends calming signals to the part of the brain that controls stress. It moves you from the sympathetic nervous system (fight/flight/freeze) into the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest). It also rewires the brain and reduces the impact of memories or incidents that trigger emotional distress through the use of cognitive statements, which activate the brain’s neuroplasticity.
EFT Sessions are appropriate for everyone – from kids and teens to the middle-aged and the elderly. Some of the ways we can help involve prenatal and postnatal women, ADD, addiction recovery, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, grief and loss, athletes, menopause, negative body image, and addiction.
Some of the following can be experienced – all of which are common and not harmful: tingling or tightness in the body, a shift in body temperature, tiredness, a sense of inner calm, and the surfacing of emotions.
