The Benefits of Reiki

Ever heard of Reiki? I hadn’t before a few weeks ago, but as I did my research and tried it out, I was amazed at the benefits and things it can do for all kinds of people. Don’t knock it til you try it. That’s why I’m here today writing about why you should try Reiki and all of its benefits.

The first thing that may be coming to your mind is, what is Reiki? Reiki is a gentle touch healing technique used to accelerate the body’s natural ability to relax, reduce stress & heal itself on all levels – physical, mental, emotional & spiritual. It is completely non-invasive & safe for everyone.

Reiki is different than talk therapy – it has different healing abilities. In talk therapy, as much as someone may want to, it isn’t common to hug or embrace your therapist when something is upsetting you.

Reiki is a simple relaxation method that uses the energy that already flows through us – that animates us. It is something that is accessible to everyone. Anyone can “learn” Reiki. It is subtle, yet powerful and it supports the natural order of things. There are no contraindications to using Reiki. It can be used on adults of all ages, children, and even pets. It is used in hospitals and homes worldwide to offer support in things ranging from simple relaxation to insomnia, anxiety, and grief to support in moving through side effects of treatment for various illnesses. It brings us back to our natural ability to bring peace of mind, body, and emotions.

It’s something so inexplicable, the feeling that you get while in a session. The best way I could describe it is a sense of complete relaxation and support. While laying down in front of someone you may not know, the things that they feel and the energy you release and feel from the reiki master are incredible.

Reiki can help so many different people and is recommended by doctors and therapists for so many reasons. Some of the known benefits are:

  • Promotes harmony and balance in the mind and body
  • Relaxes and releases tension from the body
  • Breaks Down Energy Blocks and Balances The Mind, Body, and Spirit
  • Cleanses Body of Toxins and Supports Immune System
  • Helps You Sleep Better
  • Helps Spiritual Growth and Emotional Cleansing
  • Accelerates The Body’s Self-Healing Ability
  • Clears The Mind and Improves Focus

Reiki encourages a release of stress that has built up as a result of day-to-day life and specific traumas that we have experienced. It helps us move out of fight, flight, or freeze mode into relaxation mode, giving our adrenal system a break. This supports our mind in letting go of the endless loop of worry, moving back and forth from the past to the future, and allows us to be more fully present in the moment, where we can more easily find new perspectives, peace, and hope.

At Body Positive Works, Each session is an hour, which usually consists of 45 minutes on the table with some conversation before and after each session. It is recommended to begin with at least 3 Reiki sessions about a week apart to begin to shift your own personal energetic set point. we create treatments around the individual, listening to your needs and developing sessions that empower and celebrate you.

Reiki treatments are no exception; your Reiki Master will create an individualized treatment based entirely on your needs. A Reiki session can be used individually or in conjunction with other modalities, such as meditation and breath-work. Each modality supports a reconnection of body, mind, and spirit. This, in turn, encourages a positive change in perspective about your body and your life, empowering you to not only recognize your strengths and purpose but to live fully in the present moment as well. Used in conjunction with psychotherapy, Reiki can help to reduce stress and anxiety and further benefit the therapeutic process. You will receive instruction on how to take these practices home with you and use them in your everyday life in order to heal on your own.
