Intro to Yoga with Stacey Wood (evenings) Sign up

April 2, 2020,
7:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Do you feel like yoga is not for you? Maybe because you think your body type won't work on the mat? Or maybe you've gone to a yoga class only to feel embarrassed because you couldn't do the poses or keep up? Or maybe you think that you are not calm enough….

There is a general mis-perception that yoga is only for flexible, strong and thin people who wear tight fitted clothes, can bend their bodies in half and stand on their heads, but that is 100% false. The truth is:

  • If you can breathe, you can do yoga.

  • There is not one "right" way to do a pose

  • Even if you come to a class and lay in a resting pose for the entire time, THAT is yoga

Mornings with Jen Kraft | Thursday, April 23, 30, May 7 & 14, 10am-11am

How to Empower Your Mind: An Ancient Wisdom Practice with Bhante Sujatha Sign up

April 29, 2020,
6:30 PM to 8:30 PM

“How to Empower Your Mind: An Ancient Wisdom Practice”

Rumi says “what you seek is seeking you"… perhaps it’s true. The evidence of the power of our minds is undeniable. The ancient texts of the Buddha tell us that no external condition can be the cause of our happiness, only the mind has that ability. When people understand how they are influenced, the root causes of struggle and what we can do with our minds to make things better, sustainable happiness and radiant joy are the result. My life as a Buddhist monk has given me a front row seat to incredible transformation within so many people as I teach them how to empower the mind and cultivate the qualities that will help you find strength and happiness, and give you a burning desire to add more love to the world. When we understand our mind, we begin to re-shape our behavior and feelings about so many things. This is the most loving act of service one can do for themselves and the world.

Bhante Sujatha, a 40+ year Buddhist Monk, is singularly focuses on adding more love in the world. Bhante teaches loving-kindness meditation to people around the globe for all those seeking the art of happiness and contentment. His approach to meditation is deep and simple, bringing core Buddhist teachings to everyone in a way that is practical and easy to understand. A joyful, radiant, funny and wildly energetic monk, Bhante will help you obtain peace that can only be found in deep silence. He is originally from Sri Lanka and is the head monk / abbot of the Blue Lotus Buddhist Temple and Meditation Center in Woodstock, IL.

We then learn about the relationship and aspects of the colors as they relate to corresponding chakras and their meaning. Helping to delve into the deeper aspects of your mind and soul as thoughts arise that are activated during your practice and process by choices of colors used, whether conscious, intuitive or innate.

Color is a very powerful tool to help understand our motivations, behaviors and shadow as well as to bring in joy and light when we become present with our choices… being conscious on and off the paper as well as on and off the yoga mat.

Learn and observe the body-mind-spirit as you use and choose the colors to create the free form piece of art, which draws you, inward. This process is very insightful and telling of some undercurrents of emotion and thoughts in our subconscious as we see the Chakra Color Consciousness relationship.
